Every season brings with it a feeling, a look, a smell, an energy, and a sense of what is to come. We are at the peak of our fall foliage, and it’s wonderful! Together with the cooler temperatures, the energy of fall is intoxicating.
Pulling out the sweaters, jeans, and closed-toed shoes is part of the annual ritual as well. Purging old styles, worn clothes, and “I’m not ever going to wear that again” pieces feels cleansing. I am thankful for this time of the year that has a simpler lifestyle vs. summertime as well as the cleaning out effect.
So, what can you let go of during this season? What isn’t serving you? What is basically begging you to release it to the trash can, recycle bin, or the thrift store? What relationships are draining you? What chores can be reevaluated? What behaviors are working against you?
As the trees let go, we can, too. The symbolism is quite evident. As the trees prepare for “hunkering down season” aka winter, we as well can eliminate what isn’t working and prepare for wintery dormancy.
Now that the school year is in full swing and routine, spend time evaluating your life. Be like the trees. Know when it is time to let go, prepare for slow down time, and use this moment to shed unwanted people, items, and behaviors. Your spring will be better for it!
